Complete Heating System Support

Heating equipment can lose performance gradually or stop working without warning. Some systems begin running longer, heating unevenly, or using more energy before a complete failure occurs. Others develop an electrical, ignition, airflow, or mechanical problem that prevents them from producing heat.

Staton provides heating services for both immediate problems and long-term system needs. Our capabilities include:

  • Heating system inspections and troubleshooting

  • Heating repair

  • New heating system installation

  • Heating equipment replacement

  • Preventive heating maintenance

  • Thermostat and control evaluation

  • Airflow and distribution checks

  • Residential and qualifying light commercial service

We begin by assessing the equipment and the conditions affecting its operation. Once we understand what is happening, we explain the available service options and help you make an informed decision about the system.

Heating Systems We Service

Maryland homes use several types of heating equipment. The right approach depends on the system’s fuel source, method of heat distribution, age, condition, and relationship to other HVAC components.

Staton services the following heating systems:

  • Heat pumps that provide efficient heating and cooling from a single system

  • Furnaces that heat and circulate air through the home’s ductwork

  • Oil furnaces supplied by an on-site heating oil tank

  • Gas furnaces fueled by natural gas or propane

  • Boilers that distribute heat through radiators, baseboards, or other hydronic components

Our experience with multiple system types allows us to account for the differences between forced-air, heat pump, and hydronic heating. Each system requires equipment-specific testing, maintenance, and installation practices.

installation practices.

Heating Repair and Troubleshooting

A heating problem may involve the primary equipment, but it can also originate with a thermostat, electrical connection, control, blower, pump, ignition component, or airflow restriction. Accurate troubleshooting helps distinguish a repairable component problem from broader equipment deterioration.

Your heating system may need professional attention if you notice:

  • No heat or insufficient heat

  • Uneven temperatures between rooms

  • Weak or inconsistent airflow

  • Frequent starting and stopping

  • A system that runs for unusually long periods

  • New banging, rattling, grinding, or squealing sounds

  • Unusual odors during operation

  • A thermostat that does not control the system correctly

  • An unexplained increase in heating costs

  • Repeated shutdowns or recent repair needs

Some symptoms can have several possible causes. Our technicians inspect the relevant equipment and system components before recommending repairs. If the condition requires prompt attention, Staton also provides emergency HVAC service.

Heating Installation and Replacement

Heating system replacement is an opportunity to address comfort, efficiency, reliability, and compatibility with the rest of the home. Selecting equipment based only on the size of the existing unit can overlook changes to the property, problems with the previous installation, or opportunities to improve system performance.

When planning a heating installation, we consider factors such as:

  • The home’s size and layout

  • Existing heating equipment and fuel source

  • Ductwork or hydronic distribution

  • System capacity

  • Venting and combustion requirements

  • Electrical requirements

  • Compatibility with cooling equipment

  • Comfort concerns in specific areas of the home

  • Efficiency preferences and operating costs

Correct system sizing matters. Undersized equipment may struggle to maintain the desired temperature, while oversized equipment may operate in short, inefficient cycles. We help homeowners select a suitable system and complete the installation according to the equipment and property requirements.

When to Consider Heating System Replacement

Age alone does not determine whether a heating system should be replaced. A well-maintained older system may still provide dependable service, while a newer system with significant damage or installation problems may require a different approach.

Replacement may be worth considering when:

  • The equipment requires frequent or increasingly expensive repairs

  • Important replacement parts are difficult to obtain

  • The system no longer heats the home evenly

  • Operating costs have increased despite normal maintenance

  • The equipment has extensive corrosion or deterioration

  • The existing system is poorly matched to the home

  • A major repair would not provide reasonable long-term value

  • The homeowner wants to change fuel sources or heating technologies

Our team can compare the condition of the current system with the practical benefits of replacement. When repair remains a reasonable option, we explain what the work involves. When replacement is the stronger long-term choice, we help identify equipment suited to the property.

Preventive Heating Maintenance

Heating equipment operates under sustained demand during the colder months. Preventive maintenance allows us to inspect the system, check its operation, and identify developing concerns before they contribute to a loss of heat.

The exact service depends on the equipment, but a heating maintenance visit may include evaluating system controls, electrical connections, airflow, operating temperatures, ignition or combustion components, safety devices, and other accessible parts. Heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers each require a maintenance process suited to how the equipment produces and distributes heat.

Regular maintenance can help support:

  • More consistent heating performance

  • Efficient system operation

  • Earlier identification of worn components

  • Fewer avoidable interruptions

  • A clearer understanding of the system’s condition

  • Proper operation of controls and safety components

Maintenance cannot eliminate every possible breakdown, but it can reduce the likelihood that an unnoticed condition will become a larger problem during peak heating season.

Heating Service for Older and Newer Maryland Homes

Homes throughout Central Maryland vary widely in age, construction, fuel availability, and mechanical design. Some properties rely on boilers and radiators, while others use gas furnaces, oil heat, heat pumps, or combined heating and cooling systems.

Our technicians account for the equipment already installed and the way heat moves through the home. This broader approach is especially important when an equipment problem may be connected to aging ductwork, uneven distribution, incompatible components, or previous modifications to the system.

We service existing heating systems even when Staton did not perform the original installation. Our team also works with new equipment from leading manufacturers and installs Amana, Daikin, and Ruud systems.

Residential and Light Commercial Heating Services

In addition to residential heating, Staton provides service for qualifying light commercial HVAC systems, including rooftop equipment up to five tons. We work with small businesses, churches, clubhouses, retail properties, and other facilities that need dependable indoor heating.

Our light commercial capabilities include heating system service, maintenance, installation, and replacement. We evaluate the equipment and property requirements to determine the appropriate solution for the space.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE OUTSTANDING EFFORTS OF TWO OF YOUR TECHNICIANS: JOSH BEADENKOPF AND STIVEN LLANDO!!
In the past month I have had to deal with plumbing/HVAC issues that resulted in water leaks in my basement and my attic. The problem in my basement included the installation of a new sump pump. The technician in this case was Josh Beadenkopf. Josh provided excellent customer service. His demeanor was very professional and he carefully explained every option to solve my problem. He was very patient and answered all of my questions. He did a great job and definitely alleviated some of the stress I was feeling about my situation. I was so impressed that when I experienced my second issue with water in my attic, I specifically requested him to assist which Staton accommodated. He came out but determined that I needed a HVAC specialist. He made arrangements for someone to come out that afternoon and even called me to follow up and make sure I got the help I needed.
Kudos to Josh!!
The HVAC technician that came out for the issue in my attic was Stiven Llando. I hit the jackpot again with a a professional, knowledgable and personable technician! He was very thorough, determined and as a result was able to successfully unclog the drain lines that had caused the water leaks. He very patiently explained the entire process and included pictures. Stiven made several recommendations including installation of a safety mechanism that would help avoid future water damage which I accepted as well as other options there were available to me to consider. He did outstanding work! Kudos to Stiven!

Updating my previous positive review with additional positive feedback. We had an issue come up with a sewer line replacement and WL Staton responded promptly and resolved the issue and put our property back to as close to how they found it as possible. They earned our repeat business anytime we are need of plumbing services. Everyone we interacted with was wonderful from Vince, BJ, Joe, Wayne and Daniel. Highly recommended.

Update: we had a terrible experience with Barstow and Sons and moved our HVAC service to Staton. We could not be more pleased with the communication, level of professionalism, and results. Father and son HVAC team of Chip and Craig were awesome to have in our home.
